Mental illness means loss on so many levels, from a job or a relationship, to one's own dignity. It's hard to regain a sense of hope. Sometimes we need help. CMHA is there.
With your help, CMHA can help someone with mental illness find a place to call home, or to find and keep a job when illness strikes. We believe that a caring community heals, and restores hope.
We depend on volunteer participation to help us to develop our vision and provide services.
Benefits of volunteering:
- Regular volunteer activity can have a positive effect on mental and physical health. Volunteering offers you an opportunity for fulfilment that comes from doing worthwhile work and can be a satisfying outlet for your talents and interests
- Being involved in community gives a sense of purpose and satisfaction that paid work cannot. VOlunteering is called the "win-win" activity because helping others makes us feel good about ourselves. At the same time, it widens our social netword, provides us with new learning experiences and can bring balance to our lives.
- Volunteers represent the best in our communities. You should always remember that you make a difference, no matter how big or how small your efforts. All volunteers are part of a helping network - part of a caring community.
